Renewable Heat Incentive

The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is a fixed payment for the renewable heat you generate yourself. The RHI is very similar to the FIT scheme that was introduced in April 2010 and in schduled to come into force in  June or July 2011 and, unlike the FIT payments for electricity generation is being paid for by the Government.

Broadly speaking, the Renewable Heat Incentive is for everyone, including households, landlords, businesses, farmers, schools, hospitals, care homes and more. The RHI can even be used by entire communities, coming together to invest in a renewable scheme from which they will all use the heat and share the income.

Unfortuneatly, on October 20th 2010, within the Comprehensive Spending Review, the Government announced that the RHI would be reduced in scope by 20% from its original level. AS the money is coming directly from the Treasury, as of today, no concrete payments can be calculated or presented here. However, the payment will last from 10-20 years depending on the technology and we antici[pate will fully cover the costs of any installation as the Governemtn has maintained it wish that potential investors will see a 8-12% return on their investment.

Any system installed by a MCS certified installer, using MCS certified product will be eligible for RHI payments from now on.RHI Table
